Future Prospects for Final Fantasy XIV

Some of these issues probably just come down to the fact that we did just get a whole new version of the game less than two months ago, and the development team had only so much time to add new stuff to the game with the first patch containing a huge pile of stuff. So this was always going to be a little bit of a wash; there’s only so much you can do.
Part of the problem, though, is a lack of ambition. The holiday events are structured so that no one winds up needing to go out of the way to try something, and the whole thing is accessible as long as you’ve hit level 15 on one job (something that is about as challenging as falling asleep on NyQuil). And while accessibility is nice, it’s not the only thing that matters.
I’ve stated that I like Final Fantasy XIV’s current endgame, and I do, but part of the fun of holiday events is that you have something to pull in a different direction for a little while. Spice up an FFXIV Gil old dungeon or two; give us something new to deal with. Haukke Manor could hold an optional boss with minimal effort; it fits with the holiday, and because of how level sync works, it could legitimately be done with almost any setup of players. Or even just a roaming set of FATEs, something to chase — give us something to keep our interest beyond the first few moments of the holiday.
The team on the game is fully capable of making some engaging diversions. Let’s, you know, actually have a few.

Final Fantasy XIV :A letter from the producer ,LI

Hello again, all you FFXIVers out there! Yoshi-P here, bringing you my fifty-first Letter from the Producer.
 
It’s already been a month and a half since release, and after adding several new Worlds, optimizing the servers, and expanding the data centers, it’s full speed ahead for the development team as we prepare for the first big patch.
Looking over data from each World, it’s great to see so many players in every level range. Whether it’s exploring the nooks and crannies of Eorzea, chasing after FATE, braving through dungeons for Allagan tomestomes, or taking on the Binding Coil of Bahamut, everyone seems to be settling into their own play style as they find their place in the community.
As for myself, I’ve finally defeated Titan in the main story, and am now in snowswept Coerthas. I’ve been going it incognito on the public servers, and it’s been a lot of fun playing with you all. I can never resist a shout for help to venture through lower level dungeons, so it’ll probably be a while before I reach end game.
Speaking of end game, I’d like to take a moment to address our players who have completed the main scenario, and are now working to complete relic quests and fight against the hard-mode primals. We realize how difficult it’s been to acquire tomestones and have taken measures to alleviate this problem. Although we had a few setbacks necessitating an extension of the planned maintenance on October 15, as well as a subsequent emergency maintenance, we’ve added additional instance servers for Amdapor Keep as well as the Wanderer’s Palace. We’ve also increased the number of tomestones obtainable in these dungeons, and made adjustments to gil received from within. Patch 2.1 will introduce even more ways to accumulate tomes, so please bear with us.
End game players have also encountered problems with the fifth turn of the Binding Coil of Bahamut. This issue was to be addressed with the patch on October 15, but unfortunately we’ve confirmed FFXIV Gil that the problem still persists. Please rest assured we are working diligently to resolve this issue so that players can resume play in this instance as soon as possible.
Our first update will be fairly substantial, and can be divided into three key parts. First and foremost, we want players to have more options to enjoy themselves in Eorzea. We’ll be introducing daily quests and treasure hunts for those looking to play solo, and various system adjustments will make it easier to obtain Allagan tomestones of philosophy and mythology with your party mates. You can also expect to see new dungeons, the Crystal Tower, extreme primal battles, and the return of Good King Moggle Mog. There’s also housing and the Wolves’ Den to look forward to, both of which are being fine-tuned and debugged as we speak.
Second, we’ll be implementing feedback from you, the players. Not only will the user interface be updated, but we’ll also be adding an item-sort function, item level restrictions on the Duty Finder, the MVP system, and a number of other new features.
Last but certainly not least, we’ll be introducing the salon where players can customize character features such as hair and face paint, and a party search function for individual Worlds. This wouldn’t be a FINAL FANTASY if it didn’t have a story, so expect to see new developments in the main scenario, and perhaps even the return of a certain someone from Version 1.0.

Diablo 3 patch caused a loss

Blizzard have announced that they have just closed down the Diablo 3 Auction House due to a game breaking exploit that appeared following the 1.08 patch. The patch went live on Tuesday but it took eagle eyed players only a few hours to discover an exploit, one so bad that is has almost totally destroyed the in-game economy.
According to an official post on Battle-net many players have earned billions of gold with one individual managing to collect over 300 trillion gold. The exploit was first discovered FFXIV Gil on Twitch as an individual streamed the exploit and gave thousands the tools they needed to totally destroy the economy. Yet another hole in the sinking ship that is Diablo 3.
Blizzard revealed that a Diablo III exploit all but destroyed the economy after the latest patch. It gave players the opportunity to earn millions of gold and basically exploit the economy to make tons of real cash. The unique auction house in Diablo III allows players to sell in-game items for cash and other items, meaning the players that abused the exploit could easily turn a huge profit from doing so.
Blizzard have announced that all of the proceeds and revenue from the exploit, that has now been fixed, will be donated to charity; instead of the highly feared rollback of servers. 415 players were found to be exploiting and all will be removed before the donations are made.

Diablo 3:Reaper of Souls to PS4

 Blizzard is now confirming the existence of Reaper of Souls for PS4, and a playable version of the game will be found at Blizzcon this November. The expansion raises level caps, adds a new act and creates one new character class, the Paladin-like Crusader.
 
By the time Reaper of Souls is released some time in 2014 (I’d guess spring), Diablo 3 will have been out for quite a while on PC, and at least a fairly decent amount of time on consoles. With that in mind, if the expansion (on PC) is priced $30 the way Blizzard is implying, I have to imagine they’d come up with some sort of package where both the original game and the expansion could be purchased FFXIV Gil for $60 total. That would be a somewhat steep discount on the original, but by the time Reaper of Souls was released, I think it would be both an appropriate price and a good value given how much content players would be getting. Though I feel like I’m one of the only folks still evangelizing about how fun this console port is, so perhaps the game might seem like old news at that point to some.
Reaper of Souls is one of my most anticipated games of 2014, even if it’s just a lowly expansion, and it’s even better news that it’s on the PS4.

A Realm Reborn :Some useful tips for newer

The flip side of such complexity leaves us with a game that may be a little impenetrable for newcomers, thanks to a confusing user interface and poorly implemented map markers. The situation isn’t always much better for experienced MMO players either. Unfortunately for them, A Realm Reborn smuggles in many negative genre tropes which revel in repetition or needlessly sluggish progression.
Still, you don’t always have to look far in order to find something worthy of your attention. Metaphorical digging for gold is definitely required if you wish to get the most out of this Final Fantasy, but a surprisingly layered character creation process (allowing you to choose vocals to suit every emotion, for instance) provides a crosssection of what’s brilliant about A Realm Reborn: attention to detail. Feeling more alive than other MMOs, local adventures build an illusion of community as apposed to a nation comprised of faceless non-player characters.
 
It’s characterful in every way that counts, too. With thoroughly Japanese sensibilities providing a break from Western fantasy tropes, bizarre creatures and dreamlike environments make this a world worth visiting. An overreliance on text-based dialogue is disappointing, yet the writing itself is incredibly distinct (if occasionally bloated). Besides A Realm Reborn’s unhealthy passion for info-dumping, those who enjoy losing themselves in their fiction have a lot to soak up here.
It’s a shame that the rest can be so old-fashioned. Combat keeps things simple FFXIV Gil with traditional hotbars – not to mention awkward targeting – whilst the frequent necessity of returning to quest givers seems archaic. There may be hints of modern advances to be found (namely FATES, a version of Guild Wars 2’s ever-changing Dynamic Events), yet this is like stepping back in time for the most part. Why can’t we revive players without a specific spell, for example?
When thrown in with a near comical level of exposition, some utterly pointless starter quests, and far too many tutorials to take in, A Realm Reborn can be too much effort at times. Read: rather than getting right into the epic journeys you no doubt paid for, you’ll actually be delivering vegetables or hitting squirrels over the head for the first few hours. Go team.
At least that initial grind is made more bearable with the presence of friends every step of the way. Because PlayStation 3 and PC players share servers you can party up with others no matter what they’re gaming on. The latter version will look far better doing it, of course (and my console edition had frame rate problems despite a connection it labelled as ‘excellent’), but both offer the makings of a great co-op experience. Until you realise that 25% of the player-population runs about in their underwear, that is. No, I’m not joking.
Bizarre clothing aside, it’s worth asking yourself how long you want to spend in A Realm Reborn before taking the plunge. If you’re not willing to invest time in working out how all of its systems fit together or grinding for better missions this Final Fantasy probably isn’t worth the £8 it costs each month to keep going. If you prefer the long haul, on the other hand? This looks to be the kind of world that’ll reward your investment, and then some.

Elder Scrolls character change course

As versatile and deep as the series is, it wasn’t until Skyrim that The Elder Scrolls started generating somewhat attractive player characters. Looks like they’ve nailed attractive character creation for The Elder Scrolls Online.

 
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, released in 2006, was a huge improvement, but the characters in general looked a bit frumpy.
2011′s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim generated pretty FFXIV Gil humanoid classes, but the non-humans weren’t quite right.
And now we’ve come to The Elder Scrolls Online, perfecting the look of both humanoids and non-human races.
Players can adjust height and weight, markings, hairstyles and then go in deep, micro-managing specific traits until you’ve got the perfect avatar.
The result is not just gorgeous characters, but characters in all shapes and sizes, believably rendered in a living and breathing world. How good is The Elder Scrolls Online‘s character creation? As Evan Narcisse pointed out to me…

Diablo III to shut down auction house next March

Using Horadric Cube, needed quest item for Act 2 and runes as recipes, one can empower the items.

“Crafted items” are very similar to rare items but they cannot be found in chests or dropped by monsters. They can be created with the Horadric Cube and the right ingredients. They have 3-4 fixed properties that will enhance the items.

“Runewords” are very powerful bonuses that are granted to an item when specific runes are socketed in a specific order.

“Jewels” gain the same random bonuses that items can. These can be placed into sockets. They have the same effect no matter what the base item is. Unique jewels FFXIV Gil are “Rainbow Facets” which have different bonuses to a certain element.

Ethereal items that are normally more powerful than their standard counterparts, but they have lowered durability and cannot be repaired.

Charms that can be kept in the inventory and provide passive bonuses.

Class-specific items that can only be used by a certain character, e.g. Claws for an Assassin.

Additional unique and set items, including class-specific sets.
An expanded stash for storing items—two times the size of the original stash.

An alternate weapon/shield/spell setup that can be switched to via a hotkey in gameplay.

Hirelings can now follow the player through all the Acts. They can also be equipped with armor and a weapon, can gain their own experience (originally they leveled up with the player), can be healed by potions, and can be resurrected when killed.

The game can now be played at 800×600 resolution, up from 640×480.

I’m not sure the html codes to use to put all of that in a quote box so forgive me if this is annoying to read. Most of this already seems to be in Diablo 3 but I think the reason LoD seemed so massive before I actually looked at what all it included is just how much it changed the game. What they seem to be proposing now is changes to bring it in line with what the console version has and a new act/class. Not much in the way of advancing the game though, really.

D Diablo 3 patch fixes crashes, the Xbox 360 to stop the endless vibration

Following the October 1 release of PlayStation3, Blizzard has now released the Xbox 360 incarnation Diablo 31.02 patch.

Most notably, this patch fixes a number of relatively common in-game scenarios that have been causing the game to crash. It also improves the item-handling abilities of your FFXIV Gil character’s Followers, ensures that proper gems can be found in higher difficulty levels and fixes an issue that would cause a player’s controller to vibrate indefinitely.
